Monday 2/22/16

It’s a Monday and our 3rd day of work. The class, half asleep, half awake, slowly trudge to their work spaces. The actors assemble and the stage comes together. Mr. Miller is absent and the class is soon falling into chaos. Without leadership, the class becomes an anarchy as CEO Chris and Executive Screenwriter Mikayla desperately attempt to get the class together. After what seems to be an eternity, the class begins to quiet down.
Our host, Chase P. sits in a red chair on stage and recites the introduction while the class watches wide-eyed. Chase stumbles on his lines, squinting to read them on the small screen of a fellow student’s Chromebook. The class giggles as Chase makes these mistakes.
A familiar chaos fills the air as our actors try to assemble for Section 1. CEO Chris stands up to get the class together. Executive Screenwriter Mikayla and Editor Jackie VB. hold the cue cards up for the actors off camera. The act comes together much better than when the actors were holding papers up to their faces.
The class’ famous Cinderella commercial starring Brian M., Sam H., and Jason W. stirs up some excitement in the class. “Dang, these are so fresh!” Brian exclaims with detectable sarcasm. The class can’t help but laugh.
Back to the science. Dr. Dusty invites another couple on stage, Sam H. and Chris K. Our camera crew rotates around to capture shots and videos of our progress from different perspectives.
Jessica C. and Erin M. interview our actors and classmates in the back room. The stage is finally organized and the actors can recite their lines in silence. Our actors’ voices still lack expression, but our show is slowly coming together.
For the next section, actors Jackie R. and Jason W. display more expression than our other actors. Just what we needed. Hopefully, their example will rub off on our other actors.
